Yet Another Orphan

It exists. So I'm gonna post it. The Penitent Never Regret (2005) I've debated posting this disc by Maudlin for a while. It's a married couple. My impression interacting with them and this band way back in the beginning of this century is that she's quite talented and charismatic. He was kind of a dick. No wait. That's not fair. He absolutely was a complete dick. There. That's better.

Volume Seven

I like Irish whiskey too. Twin Town High Volume 07 (2005) Full tracklist on Discogs One I'd wish I'd gotten at when it came out and wasn't such a pretentious twat when it came to local bands at the time. Highlights are the Deaths (two great albums of neo-psych pop), Olympic Hopefuls (later just the Hopefuls) and Grickle Grass.

Consider Yourself Warned

I'm hungry. Thinking that the cucumber/pineapple salad as discussed in the previous post should be perhaps properly chilled by this time and therefore twice as refreshing as before. I wish I had some crusty bread to go with it. That's kind of beside the point though. This is alleged to be a music blog, not an Instagram page about my eating habits. Right? Right!? Blood River Melodies (2005) The Knotwells . It's not bluegrass since the gatekeepers of that particular genre are very particular about what qualifies and make the average record store clerk/keeper of the current hipness seem entirely reasonable. I'd be hard pressed to call it New Grass either. Since that's a randomly bullshit genre invented by the people who want to play Bluegrass style music, but aren't pompous assholes with fixed rigid ideas of what qualifies. It's got some punk/rock attitude. It also has fucking banjos. Take heed of that.

Second Verse

Same as the first.   Another night of ripping MN discs and queuing post about other ones. I need to get some other hobbies. Voicing the Circuit (2005) The bio posted about the subject of the previous couple of posts mentioned Model Down as one of His Mischief's band members previous bands. This one sounds just as sweaty and with that old school sonic tang of stale beer and weed that you've come to know and love. Another fine release on the Modern Radio Record Label . If you liked these past few posts go and show them some love and buy something so they can continue to be and be awesome.

I Gotta Work Tonight

But in the meantime my queue is getting short. So here's a quickie. Red Eyes & Sincerity (2005) The sole feature length release by Blame. If you're interested in the band family tree that follows this release you can always look them up on Discogs and follow the links . I don't have time for that now. I have to eat and then improve the lives of the critically ill.
