Throwing Something in the Queue

Image
So I've been busy this off week and only noticed that the post queue had run dry. Time to spring into action and get some shit in there lest I disappoint the few people who take time to frequent this little corner of the world wide web. Lonely (1980) So I threw a bunch of stuff at mediafire and decided to post them in the order they uploaded. So here we are. Thrust were from Duluth, Mn. It's been sitting in the "to post" bin since 2018. Mostly because I didn't really know what to pair it with. Today it pairs with another dust gathering bin orphan. It's a local band kind of stab at AOR rock and actually not terrible for what it is. There's a bit of Prog stylings to the flip "Children of the Sun". While I can't say as I pull this out to listen to with any regularity, I don't actually dislike it which is faint praise certainly, but given what I listen  to on the reg. Pretty good on the whole. 1994 - Gauche One of two singles (and the only o...

Making Decisions

So yeah, I have diddly to say.  It's winter. There's fuck all to do except sleep, cook and play video games. Still buying more music than I have time to listen to, but I get some satisfaction in just looking at the wall of music, so it's a bit of a push, I guess. At least I'm picking stuff up cheaply as imaginable since for the most part I'm buying singles and compact discs and everybody else is still fetishizing vinyl.  But hey, if spending more money than necessary because the format makes your nipples hard I say have at it. You'll listen to the download and the record will mostly sit on a shelf collecting dust. Good for you. Present General Conditions (1996) So Dwindle . It's the indie rock/pop from the end of the 20th Century Minnesota style. The link gives the background on this release.    Days Away (1999) Their sophomore effort. These two things have been kind of languishing in the "to post" file for a couple of years now on the thought tha...

Strapped for Time

I have approximately five minutes to type this up before I have to attend to some kitchen business in the other room. Wish me luck.     Succeeding/Receding (1994) Got Milk? Here you go. Three minutes. Made it.

I'm Thinking About Bacon

There's an unopened package I  got the other day in the fridge. There's tater tots in the freezer and plenty of eggs. Sounds perfect. Feral (1994) If the last post piqued your interest let me say it. Here's more. By Fauna. That is all.

Buying Myself Some Time

So it appears that I severely underestimated the number of those folding Lp boxes I'm gonna need for this move. By about half a dozen. I just got my ratios mixed up. Five boxes covered about three and a half shelves. I have two and a third to go. If I was good at math I could work it out, but I'm too frazzled and stressed to really want to think about it and I got up too late today to hit the liquor store for a box of stress relieving juice. So here I am. With nothing else to do currently because the tape roll is too loud when I'm packing up boxes and wakes the wife up, I'm just going to by myself a little extra time in the future at the new place to get my lazy ass settled in and figure out where all my shit is and in what fucking order it's in and who's the dumbass who packed all this stuff up this way. What a fucking moron that guy was.... So I think I'm going to end up with a baker's dozen of Lp boxes to go with a like number of Cd boxes and the pr...

I Need Some Good Stuff to Happen

Image
So yeah,  April was a shitty month. Work has been extra stressful. We're always running short and business is picking up steadily so we're all covering what might be a big assignment for two or three people. People are quitting and everybody is too burnt to pick up extra shifts no matter how many bonuses they throw at them. I'm a .9 so picking up is too much on top of my regular hours and much shittier when I know I'd be walking into a shitshow. And then on top of all of that shit I had two different good, long standing and significant friends die within four days of one another. So yeah, April was a shitty month. And I could use some nice karmic balance to happen. Here's some OOP Low I Could Live in Hope (1994) Low . Easily Duluth, Minnesota's most beloved export to the world. The band that plays slowly and deliberately. I've only seen them once. It was at an outdoor event with then Senator Al Franken in a park less than a mile from where we were living. I...

Is It Spring Yet?

Image
I just remembered I have leftover al pastor tacos in the fridge.  I should get on with this. I type, I eat, I play video games until morning. It's the cycle of life on my days off. I also remember I have whisky which should be interesting since I haven't had so much as a drop of liquor in months. This could turn out to be a swell night. 1995 -Sissy Bar The solo work of Matt Olson of Balloon Guy that was concurrent to that band. It's kind of an extension of that but lesser fi and perhaps even looser. I don't know. It's likely he simply was writing and recording material faster than a regular band could accomodate. I don't know. It's certainly in the same general sonic universe. If you liked the previous. You should enjoy this buzzing ball of angular nonsense as well. Here's a bonus just so I don't have to toss it onto another unrelated post later and to get it on here before this delicious Irish Whisky makes it harder to type coherent sentences in m...
